Energy News – August 2017

I’m pleased to report that as part of the commissioning process of Tilbury 1, the first material will be passed through our new state-of-the-art fixed line wood processing equipment this coming Monday. This significant investment is capable of producing a nominal 120 tonnes per hour across two independent but identical fixed processing lines. This allows us to meet the hourly demand of the Tilbury Green Power facility from one fixed processing line whilst servicing the other. The equipment, pictured below, has also been designed with full flexibility to allow us to consider alterations to the final product specification, if required.
It was an early start for many staff recently as a Business Briefing and the new Stobart Employee Handbook were presented to all our biomass Drivers at various UK locations by members of the HR, Operations and Health Safety & Compliance teams. As these meetings had to be done prior to the Drivers departing on their usual delivery routes, it meant some of the team starting their day at 1am, so thanks to everyone involved.
Stobart Energy will be working in conjunction with Halton Borough Council to develop the Halton Careers Programme throughout local schools and colleges. Halton has been successful in acquiring Government funding to work with high profile local businesses such as ours, in order to promote careers in the Logistics industry.
This will include a short film on the dynamic world of Stobart Energy along with interviews with staff to highlight the many and varied roles. So you may well see a film crew around the Widnes site in the next few weeks or even be asked to take part! All clips will then be added to a careers website to hopefully encourage students to consider a role in our sector.
