I’d like to say a warm welcome to Stuart Winchester who joined Stobart Energy this week as Head of National Contracts North and will support Mark Walster, Tom Fox and Piers Harden, as well as helping to identify and maximise new business opportunities. Stuart will be working alongside Bill Griffiths who is Head of National Contracts South. Previously, Stuart worked for Carillion as a Commercial Director and for Norland Managed Services (part of the CBRE Group) as a Divisional Commercial Director.
I’m pleased to report that concreting work, undertaken by Stobart Rail & Civils, has commenced at our new processing site at Port Clarence, Middlesbrough (pictured above). In anticipation of the first shipment of material arriving at Port Clarence from overseas, we have entered into an arrangement for stevedoring (or port handling) services with a key local partner.
At Widnes, the permit for the dryer has been received, which will enable us to continue to grow our offering and material throughput.
The Tilbury Power Plant is nearing the end of its commissioning phase with the plant having completed its 21-day performance test over the Easter weekend. The plant is now operating at full load fed with an average of 750 tonnes/day of biomass fuel from the Stobart Energy Wood Processing Facility onsite and is burning seven days a week to generate electricity via a steam turbine.
