Quality Control and Sustainability
Stobart Wood Fuel are members of the Wood Recyclers Association (WRA), which was established in 2001 with the aim to represent the wood recycling industry and its interests to Government and other regulatory bodies. The WRA include a wide membership which currently stands at over 90 companies and represents more than 85 per cent of recycled wood in the UK. The WRA members include wood re-processors, panel board mills, renewable energy suppliers, technology manufacturers, consultancies and specialist insurance and health and safety companies. The WRA also enjoys reciprocal membership with the Resource Association.
The WRA’s work includes the Wood Packaging Protocol, which enables the calculation of the amount of packaging being processed within the UK and a wood packaging recognition training package to be delivered within the workplace. The WRA have also produced the Wood Recyclers Code of Practice, designed to raise operational quality, environmental and health and safety standards within the sector.
Stobart Wood Fuel are on the Biomass Suppliers List (BSL), accrediting us as a Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) eligible biomass and Woodfuel supplier. This means that our customers can demonstrate to Ofgem that their fuel meets the RHI sustainability criteria which allows them to claim their RHI payments. Stringent tests must be passed in order to gain accreditation, ultimately proving that the fuel we supply meets a lifecycle greenhouse gas emission criteria of 60% Greenhouse gas emission savings against the EU fossil fuel average.
